历史沿革[edit]
元泰定二年（1325年），廖姓先人从南雄迁出，隐居新会小富冲；其曾孙廖汝松于明宣德五年（1430年）迁到此地，称大冲（涌）。此前后，曾、冯、梁、欧等姓迁到西邻，在山边种植青梅，称梅冲（涌），后来郑、杨、吴等姓迁入，两处合并改称梅大冲。[2]清康熙年间的县志里梅冲、大冲两处都有记载。[2]民国至建国初期随睦洲乡，1958年归睦洲管理区，1959年设大冲大队。[2]

梅冲、大冲两村合并后，各取其首字，称梅大冲。[3]
人口与经济[edit]
村里有460户、1680人，土地约6222亩，山地占去5000亩，水稻722亩，鱼塘350亩，另有作物地150亩。靠种稻、淡水养殖和种菜为生，2007年全村集体经济总收入为83万元。[1][2]2024年，村里将约70亩地块交给水产公司，与科研机构合作建设省级良种场。[1]
