东环沙村是新会区睦洲镇北部的行政村，与新沙村、南安村相邻，下辖6个村民小组，广珠公路、江珠高速公路和江门支道经过村境。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
此地原是河滩，后来泥沙冲积成平原。吴姓先人捕鱼途经，在此定居耕作，起初称东环垌；其后黄、梁、霍等姓农民陆续迁来，形成河两岸的村落，称东环沙。[2]民国时属外海乡，建国初期与新沙、牛牯臀编在一起，称幸福乡，后改新沙乡；1986年才从新沙分出单独设村。[2]
地名由来[edit]
村落位于形如耳环的河道东面，又是沙田区，故名。[3]
人口与经济[edit]
全村土地1600亩，其中水稻约700亩、鱼塘约630亩，有282户、1108人，党员41名；集体收入主要来自鱼塘发包。[1][2]2020年村卫生站完成规范化建设，村子创建为广东省卫生村；近年推进绿美乡村建设，村里栽了龙眼树、紫花风铃木等近300棵。[1]2023年驻村第一书记推动更换电线电缆并改建陈皮仓储对外出租，预计每年增加集体收入8万元。[1]
