村名由来：位于榕江支流的末端，故名河尾。^[1]

明弘治十八年（1505年），先人到此建村。^[1]

公社化时期属光锋公社，光锋公社拆分后归灶浦公社；1984年改乡，1986年设村委会。^[1]

据村情简介，全村耕地262亩，辖1个自然村。当地主要出产香蕉。近年的荣誉和入选情况：2023年5月获评2022年广东省卫生村。^[1]
