历史沿革[edit]
村名因村在官渡的东南方而来。[1]据区划资料，新南在1949至1957年为新南乡，1958至1983年为新南大队，1983至1986年复称新南乡，1986至1993年为新南村委会，1993至1998年为新南管理区，1998年起称新南村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村离镇政府约8公里、离县城约37公里，面积约8.7平方千米，分10个村小组，居民2488人。[2]
文化[edit]
村里以客家祠堂文化为主，各村小组都有宗祠，共10座；道姑岩上另有一座道姑仙娘庙。[2]
经济[edit]
传统种植花生、水稻、甘蔗和蔬菜，柠檬约80亩、三华李约120亩，近年新种澳洲油茶约1200亩；辖区内的江丰实业翁源有限公司是省级农业龙头企业，带动着肉鸡养殖，家庭农场有8家。[2]
荣誉[edit]
- 2021年9月，新南村入选广东省农业农村厅公布的第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单（肉鸡）。[1]
