历史沿革[edit]
村名取自这里平整的耕作区。[1]据区划资料，坪田在1949至1957年为坪田乡，1958至1983年为坪田大队，1983至1986年复称坪田乡，1986至1993年为坪田村委会，1993至1998年为坪田管理区，1998年起称坪田村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
全村面积约4平方千米，耕地750亩、林地2520亩，分6个村民小组，居民约850人。[2]
文化[edit]
楼仔组的祝三楼始建于清代中期，保存完整。村尾河边有社庙供奉社神，每年农历三月初十是拜社节，其间有小型庙会。[2]
经济[edit]
村民种水稻、花生、玉米和莲藕，另有用材林约100亩、经济林约2420亩。[2]
著名人物[edit]
吴广（？～1601），本名世秀，出身九龙水大吴屋村，该村即今坪田村；他从军报国，多次立功，做到福建南路参将，后被免官还乡。[1]
荣誉[edit]
- 坪田村在2023年5月获广东省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
