竹园村是广东省东莞市寮步镇下辖的行政村，紧挨东城街道，在寮步镇的西北一带，离莞樟公路很近。[1]

全村土地面积约1.4平方千米，只有一个自然村。全村登记户籍的有1038人，此外还有外来暂住者一万余人。[1] 村中有一所中小学、一所幼儿园，工业企业80多家。[1] 村里保存着竹园古村，村内祠堂众多。[1]

竹园古村[edit]

据村方介绍，竹园古村历经六百多年，繁衍了三十代人。村内现存的祠堂中，以「发祥祠」最为重要，它被列为市级文物保护单位。古村还有古巷、古井和带竹林的农家小院，保留了村落的旧时风貌。[1]

乡村建设与治理[edit]

竹园村的历史文化街区于2016年建成，村里又全面推进美丽幸福村建设，对祠堂后山一带的登山步径、休闲广场和周边道路做了升级。主干道元英路在2021年完成升级。[1]

村里以「智网工程」为核心，将辖区划分为3个基础网格，组建网格管理员队伍，并落实基层的民主自治制度，推进依法治村。[1]
