山根社区位于佛山市南海区西樵镇西樵山的东面，东临北江，南与沙头镇接壤，距镇中心约1公里，由原山根村改设。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，辖地分属八区简官乡与一区石井乡，石井乡后来改称山根乡。土改结束时，它属南海七区山根乡；1957年划归官山乡，不久并入九江镇。[1]

1959年10月，这里成为佛山专区的淡水养殖实验场。此后行政归属屡有变动：1971年归九江公社，1980年改由沙头公社管辖，1994年4月才并入西樵山旅游度假区。[1]

山根在1999年成为行政村，2011年「村改居」后称山根居委会。[1]

人口民族[edit]

辖区总面积7.4平方公里，下辖9个村民小组，常住4950人（1300户），另有流动人口约3000人。省道塘九线贯穿辖区，近西樵山一侧有环山公路。[2]

经济[edit]

辖内有南海太平地毯厂、何氏水产服务中心（广东省农业龙头企业）等企业，另有商铺80多家。[2]社区在2019年9月进入广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，2026年3月被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
