荷村是高要区莲塘镇南部的行政村，距莲塘圩镇3千米，辖16个村民小组，人口共3097人（据博雅地名网），被称为广东省革命老区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1952年立荷村乡，隶高要二区，当年8月划归高要六区；1955年转入莲塘区；1958年划入新桥公社，成立荷村大队；次年改隶莲塘公社；1983年大队改为乡，1989年乡改为村委会，后改为管理区，1998年复称村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村内建有占地约3000亩的无公害供港蔬菜基地，种植白瓜、豆角、丝瓜等。据博雅地名网，这里发展成为邻近各镇中最大的蔬菜集散批发市场。[1]
