田三村在汕头市潮南区陇田镇东南部，背山面海。南宋端平年间创村，旧称心溪，清康熙年间改田心后分为四村，村委会设在田三，故名田三。汕汕铁路的潮南站设在村境。[1][2]

田三与田一、田二、田四同出一源：此地东临南海，地势低洼，溪流弯曲像「心」字，称心溪；清康熙年间改田心，后分四村。明、清至民国属潮阳县大坭都，1921年起属田心乡；1983年称田三乡，1986年设村委会，1999年恢复现建制。[2]

全村人口5725人（博雅地名网），耕地1500亩，党员76人。早年交通条件差，是以农业为主、工业不发达的贫困村。百度百科列出的2008年数字：人均纯收入3430元，农村经济总收入3594.09万元。另外，汕汕高铁的潮南段经过村境，潮南站也设在这里，周边正规划商贸、旅游等产业。[1][2]

2018年，田三村列入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1][2]
