莲光社区是汕头市金平区鮀莲街道下辖的社区，位于街道南侧、桑浦山南麓，1997年7月由原莲塘村的七、八联组建而成，居委会设在莲塘路109号。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

东起柑园路，西止石门里路，南至鮀济河北岸，北到莲光六巷，面积1.7平方公里；相邻的是莲美（东）、莲风（西）、莲华（北）三个社区。[2]

人口民族[edit]

据博雅地名网所载有568户、2568人，其中农业人口1848人；社区党总支下辖四个党支部，党员110名。[2]

经济[edit]

居委收入靠鱼池、海滩、蚝埕和山坡地发包，居民种稻、蔬菜、水果并养殖鱼虾蟹。1998年底引进汕头市金川食品工业有限公司，实现工业零的突破，其后又有佳馨食品、正大饲料厂以及裕华钢铝工艺、华由食品等企业落户。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

莲塘路中段有一棵古榕，已有90多年树龄。莲光巷内的洪厝祠有500多年历史，「文革」期间被改作食堂和幼儿园，2001年由洪氏子孙集资修缮。[2]

文化[edit]

莲光社区列入省2020年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，名单于2020年12月公布。[1]
