历史沿革[edit]
莲塘村相传由福建莆田人在五代后汉年间迁来所建，后来分成18个小聚落，布局像一朵莲花，村中又有渔船避风的水塘，故称莲塘。1997年莲塘居委分为五个，取「荣华风光美」之意，依次叫莲荣、莲华、莲风、莲光、莲美。[1]
人口民族[edit]
辖区面积2.44平方公里，据博雅地名网所载有629户、3100人，基本是农业人口。[1][2]
经济[edit]
居民主要从事种养业和海淡水捕捞。居委成立以来投入近500万元，用于修路、建农贸市场、公厕和老人活动中心等。[2]
文化[edit]
2005年，社区获广州军区牛田洋农副业生产基地授予的「拥军楷模、鱼水情深」称号；2008年8月获「创建六好平安和谐社区」称号。2017年10月又列入「第一批广东省卫生村」，2024年4月进入省首批乡村振兴示范村的创建名单。[1][2]
