莲荣社区是汕头市金平区鮀莲街道下辖的社区，在金平区西部，1997年7月由原莲塘村撤村建居而设，居委会在莲塘路5号。街道办事处和派出所都在辖区内。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

莲塘村相传由福建莆田人在五代后汉年间（947至950年）迁来建成。嘉靖四十二年（1563年）以前属揭阳县鮀江都，民国时属澄海县鮀西乡，1958年归汕头市郊区的鮀浦公社，1991年归升平区鮀浦镇。1997年7月莲塘村分为五个居委，莲荣为其一。[3]

地理环境[edit]

东到洋尾东街，西到莲西路，南到西巷，北到206国道，辖区面积0.14275平方公里，耕地812.458亩。[2]

人口民族[edit]

2009年共966户、2415人；农业户口占518户，人口1765人，非农业户口占448户，人口650人。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

据当地介绍，辖区有一座妈祖宫，传说始建于唐代。桑浦山蜈蚣岭的书斋洞由一块天然花岗岩巨石覆盖而成，东临汕头大学，南接宋八贤之一林巽的陵园，西邻北回归线标志塔。[2]

文化[edit]

莲荣社区是省爱国卫生运动委员会2017年10月评出的「第一批广东省卫生村」之一。[1]
