历史沿革[edit]
相传宋代，海阳县（今潮安）凅溪村的陈、阮两姓迁来搭寮建村，称新寮，后因「辽」与「寮」谐音改写今名。[1]
人口民族[edit]
据博雅地名网所载，现有326户、1080人，辖区有陈、阮、郑、林、王五大姓氏。[2]
经济[edit]
居民以务农、养殖和外出务工为主，辖区面积约0.45平方公里。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
汕头北回归线标志塔、汕头工艺美术学校和大学路收费站都在辖区范围内。[2]
文化[edit]
2003年，市、区把社区定为社会主义新农村建设示范点；此后省里先后评其为「环境卫生示范村」（2005年）、「生态示范村」和「六好」平安和谐社区（2006年）。2026年3月，又被认定为省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1][2]
