黄沙塘村在赤坭镇的西北部，省道S114线旁，面积约5.8平方千米，下辖9个村民小组，约1250人（未注明年份），距镇区约4公里。[1]一说村名因旧时种甘蔗、开糖寮、盛产黄沙糖而来；另有说法是大雨过后遍地黄沙。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
清乾隆初年，东莞移民在此立村。1958年由巴江高级社转称巴江大队，1984年底改巴江乡，1986年底改黄沙塘村委会，1987年3月起归赤坭镇人民政府管辖。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
朱兆莘旧宅为清末建筑，文物类别为近现代重要史迹及代表性建筑，列入第七批广州市文物保护单位（2008年12月公布）。[1]据百度百科，村里传统民居有祠堂庙宇、书舍家塾和民国洋楼，其中两座洋楼已认定为广州历史建筑。[2]
著名人物[edit]
朱兆莘（1879—1932），字鼎青，黄沙塘村人，其祖父朱桂芳为咸丰壬子（1852年）科经魁，其父朱珩为光绪乙未（1895年）科进士。[3]
