历史沿革[edit]
名称取意于公平东南面的大腩塘。1950年至1958年间的隶属与长安等社区相同：先属二区公平镇，后依次属公平乡、公平区公平镇和公平公社，接着1961年圩内四居委会中它排第四。1984年3月撤社建区时，镇区居民大队地域改建为第四居民委员会，随后2004年改称南园社区。[1]
人口民族[edit]
社区有630多户，人口3120多人。2019年9月，它与长安社区一同列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
