北埔村位于大埔县大麻镇境内，属河东片，在梅州市、广东省的行政区划中是大麻镇所辖的一个村。村东、村北有山环绕，西南面临韩江，村民多沿江边的河滩、坡地和溪坑两旁聚居，村名即由这一地貌而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清嘉庆年间（1796年至1816年），刘氏开基祖行三公从清远都同仁社（今湖寮镇）的社背村迁来定居，聚落形成后隶属大麻社弓州村。1998年改设村民委员会，此前1988年改称管理区，1986年冬设村委会，1983年12月恭州并入大麻后称北埔乡，1978年3月改隶恭州公社，1958年成为大麻公社的生产大队，1957年并入恭州乡，1952年单独设乡，1949年属麻东乡，民国三十二年（1943年）前后属大麻区恭州乡。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
