大竹园村是高要区莲塘镇的行政村，位于莲塘圩镇之中，辖4个自然村、21个村民小组，人口共3800多人（据博雅地名网）。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1952年，大竹园、平坳、古寺、湖塘四处合组四联乡，隶高要六区；1955年转入莲塘区；1958年划入新桥公社，成立大竹园大队；次年改隶莲塘公社；1983年大队改为乡，1989年乡改为村委会，随后改设管理区，1998年复称村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村域耕地160公顷，县道新蛟公路贯穿其中。主要养殖四大家鱼、罗非鱼、罗氏虾，并在山地、耕地种植经济林、水稻和蔬菜。[1]
