上北村在隆都镇西北部，距店市约2公里，与潮州的磷溪镇、官塘镇相邻，总面积3.63平方公里。[1]隆都北部旧时合称北社，1959年以凤湾公路为界分作上北、下北，上北在安澄公路以西。[2]村辖侯邦、新乡、宅头、后陈、古宅、龙美、溢洋、潭美八个自然村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
北社各自然村创建时间，早的在宋朝初年，晚的到清康熙年间。[2]1951年称北社乡；1953年分设宅头、龙美、前陇三乡；1956年合为北社乡；1959年设上北生产大队；1984年1月设上北乡；1986年11月撤区置镇，设上北村。[1]
经济[edit]
据村情资料，上北村耕地2838亩，地处偏僻，村民在农业和传统手工加工之外，多外出打工。[1]2009年人均收入2668元，其中工业产值3600万元、农业产值2400万元。[1]2021年9月，上北村以糯玉米入选第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
村辖的龙美有黄氏家第，又称状元先生第，是明嘉靖年间潮州状元林大钦为老师黄石庵请旨建造的宅第，坐西向东，三进，硬山顶土木结构，大门石匾和门联均为林大钦所题，现列为市级重点文保单位。[3]
