后埔村在隆都镇西部，面积约1.8平方公里，北邻上北村，南隔镇江与潮安区江东相望，西与潮安区磷溪镇接壤。[1]村名原作后浦，明代创村，因在水边，又与南面的前浦相对而名，后随地形变迁成为埔地，改浦为埔。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
村子原隶饶平县隆眼城都；1949年划入澄海县隆都区；到1953年设后埔乡；1956年与前美、后溪两乡及店市镇合称店市乡；1959年设后埔生产大队；1984年1月设后埔乡；1986年11月撤区置镇，设后埔村。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
据村情资料，村里设有七个经济联合社，即龙溪、下社、洪渡头上社、宁厝埔、堤兜、白沙宫和后埔本村，共1281户、5125人，以陈姓为主，另有秦、王、潘、洪、张等姓。[1]
村里以农业为主，耕地1430亩，种水稻和水果，仅番石榴、青枣就有500多亩；羊毛绣、珠绣等手工业已有二十多年历史。[1]2009年人均收入3424元，其中工业产值4530万元、农业产值2315万元。[1]
