历史沿革[edit]
村民的始祖罗奇锦在清朝康熙年间自紫金迁来百湖。[1] 1951年土改后这里叫百湖小乡，1955年建3个初级社，1957年联合成胜利高级社，1958年公社化，属仙村公社的百湖大队。[1]
1976年百湖、湖中、湖东分别成立大队，隶宁西公社；1983年公社撤销，湖中大队改称湖中乡；1987年乡改为村，设湖中村委会，村隶属宁西镇；2004年起归新塘镇。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，湖中村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2024年11月入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」名单。[1]
