历史沿革[edit]
宣统二年（1910年），九个姓的村民合建祠堂，取名九如堂，村名由此而来。[1] 解放初期属七区，1951年土改时称九如小乡；1956年设如东、如南、如中3个农业社，同年底划入永和乡；1958年属新塘人民公社，3个社改称大队，1962年三个大队合一，称九如大队。[1]
1976年转属永和公社；公社于1983年撤销，改设永和区，大队成为九如乡；1987年乡改为村，设村民委员会，村隶属永和镇；永和在2004年并入新塘，村也随之归新塘镇。[1]
