历史沿革[edit]
1951年土改后归宁西乡，1955年办起5个初级社，1957年合成联盟高级社；1958年公社化时，下元、石迳、郭村合编为下元大队，隶仙村公社；到1976年下元大队才独立出来，转隶宁西公社。[1]
1983年公社撤销，大队更名下元乡；1987年乡改为村，设下元村委会，村隶属宁西镇；此后依次归新塘镇（2004年）、永宁街道（2012年）、宁西街道（2019年）。[1]
概况[edit]
博雅地名网载，村民1517人、350户，劳动力750人，其中330人已外出务工；村下的居民点有西丫（分一、二、三社）、松浪、上屋、下屋、陈屋和巫屋等。[1]
荣誉[edit]
下元村于2019年10月列入广东省卫生村名录，列入2021年和2022年的淘宝村名单，2024年11月入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」名单。[1]
