历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村地原为陈姓居住。元朝至正年间（1351年），先祖李存业从新塘久裕来此以补鞋为生并定居，李姓人口渐多，陈姓人口减少，后迁往他乡。[1] 到1616年，李姓居民迁入路边的陈氏旧居住区，取名陈路边，后简称路边。[1]
此后的建制变化是：1951年土改划入宁西乡；1956年组建路边高级社；1958年公社化，成为仙村公社下的路边大队；1976年转归新设的宁西公社；1983年公社撤销，大队改称路边乡。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
村西部的南香山最高处海拔433米，四周是山地和丘陵，中部是小盆地，属南亚热带季风气候。[1] 博雅地名网载有8个合作社、1250人、320户；耕地共780亩，水田占580亩，其余200亩是旱地；以种稻为主，大部分地由外地人承包耕种。村集体收入来自土地和果场承包以及厂房、商铺出租。[1]

2024年11月，路边村入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」名单。[1]
