西山村位于普宁市区东南约10千米处。康熙五十七年（1718年），何姓一支从福建漳浦迁来开村。村南有一座小山，形似狮子，村名初作狮山，因潮语中狮与西同音，后随俗写作西山。[1]

1999年改称西山村委会，此前曾属下架山镇的一个管区。[2]

经济与侨乡[edit]

村民有饲养奶牛的传统，农作以水稻、甘薯和花生为主。村子是侨乡，有一所小学。[1]
