西山村位于东海岛西部，是民安街道下辖的行政村，统计用城乡分类为主城区。[1]中共粤桂边区委在1948年曾把机关设在村里的南园小学，旧址今辟为西山革命历史陈列馆。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

西山在1952年建乡，称西山乡；六年后乡改作大队，1984年4月重新恢复为乡。1990年4月乡又让位于管理区，1999年6月管理区再改为村委会，这个名称一直用到现在。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

南园小学的旧址是中共粤桂边区委机关的驻地遗址。据博雅地名网，党在西山的活动始于1939年5月：村党支部在这所小学里成立，同时设了交通联络站，用来指挥东海岛一带的斗争。1948年5月，粤桂边区委和临时军委成立，书记兼主席是梁广，机关就驻在这所小学，与雷州地区的党组织共用西山交通总站。当年6月中旬，粤桂边地区部分县团以上干部会议也在村里召开，由梁广主持。[2]

2004年，湛江的党史部门、高校和老区建设促进会合作，在校内建教育基地；2005年9月，永久性的「粤桂边区党委在东海岛西山村活动史展馆」落成挂牌。2019年场馆经改造扩建，现称西山革命历史陈列馆。湛江市在2003年6月将其定为爱国主义教育基地，又在2022年3月将陈列馆定为中共党史教育基地。[2]

荣誉[edit]

西山村列入2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单（2019年9月公布）；2022年9月被认定为湛江市文明村；2026年3月又被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
