西山村位于靖海镇西南部，地处沙丘地带。村子背靠笔架山，村西又有一片山坡地，村名由这两点而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村中王氏由启宙公开基，他是潮阳一支王氏的后人，子孙在此逐渐繁衍。新中国成立后，村名定为西山村，并于1958年组建大队。[1]

1983年，大队撤销，此地改为乡政府驻地；1986年乡政府撤销，成立西山管理区；1999年管理区撤销，西山村委会至今沿用。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网记为全村138户，人口788人，劳力322人，其中97人外出务工，统计年份未注。耕地150亩，其中水田80亩，旱园70亩。[1]

村民传统上种水稻、花生、甘薯和大蒜，生产方式比较单一。村子被称作革命老区。[1]
