南塘镇在广东省汕尾市陆丰市的东南部，镇政府设在镇区的跃进路，全镇面积141.51平方千米[1]。2020年11月1日第七次全国人口普查时，常住人口为91236人[8]。镇下设五个社区居民委员会和二十四个村民委员会，另有127个自然村[3]。集市相传形成于明万历三十九年（1611年），1984年起设镇（博雅地名网等写作1986年）[2][6]。镇内有市级文物保护单位华山寺，非物质文化遗产南塘吹打乐为广东省省级项目[9][11]。2026年3月，南塘镇被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」[7]。

历史沿革[edit]

陆丰市人民政府的镇情介绍称，这里的集市相传建于明万历三十九年（1611年），最初叫新墟，后来改称南塘墟[2]。博雅地名网转述新编《陆丰县志》大事记：北宋熙宁二年（1069年）海丰县改“里”为“都保”，同时在县内新辟东海寮、南塘、菟尾、河田等集市，该页据此认为南塘设墟已近千年[6]。

南宋淳熙年间（1174年至1189年），福建、江浙一带的难民因战乱和灾荒南下粤东，不少宗族落脚碣石湾一带，包括南塘，同时带来了妈祖信仰[6]。清顺治年间朝廷实行海禁迁界，沿海居民和墟市向内陆后移二三十华里，南塘因此成为商贸集散之地，农历逢二、五、八为墟日，潮州、普宁、惠来和陆丰各地的人都来赶集[6]。

民国初年设南塘区公所，民国35年改设南塘镇（陆丰市人民政府页面注为1947年）；新中国成立初期属第四区；1958年设南塘公社[2]。公社改镇的年份，陆丰市人民政府页面写作1984年，博雅地名网写作1986年，百度百科也说1986年撤区设镇[2][6][8]。

地理环境[edit]

南塘镇地处陆丰市东南部，位于北纬22度44分、东经115度24分。陆丰市人民政府页面记载其东邻甲子镇和甲西镇，南接湖东镇和碣石镇，西靠桥冲镇和内湖镇，北与铜锣湖农场、汕尾市华侨管理区相连[1]。该页称南塘是省中心镇和革命老区镇[1]。博雅地名网写明，镇东南的沿海公路连着甲子、碣石、湖东三个港口，北面有广汕公路、深汕高速公路[5]。

人口民族[edit]

2020年11月1日，常住人口91236人，在陆丰市各镇街中居第四位[7][8]。当地通行福佬话[8]。镇区原为南塘社区居委会，2012年分设元兴、新墟、南兴、新兴、元新五个社区；24个行政村之外，全镇另有127个自然村[3][7]。

南塘一带以农业为主。博雅地名网列出的特产有花生、白薯片和牛肉丸，称南塘是粤东花生的产地、加工地和集散地之一[5]；2000年全镇工农业总产值为2.65亿元[5]。百度百科的条目提到发展淡水养殖、蔬菜种养和家禽养殖，另称镇内2017年企业达700家，2018年工业企业为49家（规上企业1家）[8]。

文化[edit]

南塘吹打乐是郑氏家族自清末传下的民间音乐，以大小唢呐为主，配以锣、鼓、钹，有时加弦乐，还有头、手、腿顶瓷碗的单人吹奏表演，红白喜事上常用，也能为正字戏伴奏。2007年6月18日，南塘吹打乐被收入「广东省第二批省级非物质文化遗产名录」，编号为Ⅱ-9[11]。

名胜古迹[edit]

华山寺在双华山的山凹里，始建于明嘉靖三年（1524年），现存的明代僧人墓碑可作佐证。康熙二十三年（1684年），寺因朝廷敕封而称天后宫；到道光年间扩建，才定名华山寺。寺内有天后宫、三宝佛堂，天后圣母石像高16.68米，存明代木雕神像41尊、木匾15块和明清碑刻[9]。该寺是陆丰市文物保护单位，维基百科记其公布时间为2004年12月31日；百度百科还说它是汕尾市文物保护单位[9][10]。陆丰市人民政府页面称华山公园经修缮，成为集旅游、宗教、文物保护和休闲于一体的去处[4]。

环田古寺在环林村辖下的石佛村，建于明万历己丑年（1589年）；博雅地名网把这一年误写为1859年，己丑年应为1589年。镇内另有环山石穴、虎空行、中角尖等名胜[5][8]。

沙溪温泉景区在沙溪村，博雅地名网称温泉发源于九岛山脉，日出水量1500立方米[7]。陆丰市人民政府页面还列出丰湖观、环山古寺，还有近年新辟的去处：北湖水月莲塘、新河党建长廊、彩虹路（人民西路）和乡村振兴服务驿站[4]。

博雅地名网还记载，兰湖村三巷49号、二巷28号有周恩来的居住旧址，建于1927年，汕尾市人民政府2022年3月把它列为汕尾市第三批文物保护单位[7]。该村不在本镇行政村名单之内，此条仅依该页转述。
