东石社区即东石居委会，设在平远县东石镇的东石圩，1986年经平远县人民政府批准成立，登记335户、2596人。[1]

地名由来[edit]

名称有两种传说：其一，这里位于旧县城仁居的东南方，山中矿石多，平地满是鹅卵石；其二，村子东边有一处奇特的石头，故称东石。[1]

经济[edit]

当地年平均气温约20摄氏度，年降雨量约1700毫米。近年社区引进外资办起3家电子厂，吸纳居民就业200多人。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，东石社区名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
