村人说这里土壤肥沃、泥质好，适宜种各类作物，故称上村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1870年属升平约堡，由典史管理，称上村小村；其后1949年称上村乡；其后1951年12月属惠阳县第二十区，1957年12月并入松坑乡；其后1959年析为田心、上村两个大队；其后1983年改乡；其后1987年3月改村委，1990年称管理区；其后1995年隶松坑镇，2005年12月并入多祝镇。[2]
