村情材料称村内树木成荫，鱼塘1000多亩，耕地1979.7亩，地下有大量石灰岩资源。[1]

2021年起，鸿牛农业公司承包村里千亩土地种植茶枝柑，这片地原是效益低的竹林或荒地。据沙湖镇2026年2月的报道，这个果园上一年产量近100万公斤。沙湖镇并以和平村、南塘村等为试点，推行「两预两委托」的土地流转办法。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1949至1957年称和平乡，1958年为和平大队，1986年起称和平村民委员会，1998年10月起正式定名为和平村民委员会。[1]
