平步社区位于佛山市顺德区乐从镇西北部，北临东平河，南与乐从圩镇相接，辖区面积约2.96平方千米；原为平步村，2001年改设居民委员会[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

村子据说在北宋末年（1101至1125年）立村，取“平步青云”之意得名[1]。1958年设平步大队，1983年起称乡，1987年起称村，1989年起叫管理区；村委会于2001年10月28日转为居委会[1]。明清时这一带的平步堡是今乐从镇域的组成部分之一[2]。
