历史沿革[edit]
相传南宋咸淳九年至十年（1273至1274年），南雄珠玑巷事件之后，罗贵带领的族人中约90人转到乐从避难，其中吴姓先在此建村，陈氏随后迁入；村名取“新建而兴隆”之意[1]。民国时属沙隆乡，新中国成立初期属路新乡，1958年设新隆大队，1983年起称乡，1987年起称村，1989年起叫管理区，1999年改为村委会[1]。
经济与设施[edit]
博雅地名网所录村情称：全村968户、3626人，耕地3034亩，其中鱼塘1340亩，加州鲈养殖占1200多亩[2]。辖区有两个工业区，第一个建于20世纪80年代初，占地60亩；第二个建于90年代中期，占地80亩，集中了家具商铺、仓库和厂房，形成前面开店、中间设仓、后面办厂的格局[2]。村内有新隆明德小学、中心市场、敬老院、幼儿园和中心公园等[2]。
该村曾获“顺德市村民自治模范村”“顺德市文明村”称号，2019年9月进入广东省2018年度“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位，2020、2021、2022年连续入选淘宝村[2][1]。
