竹林社区在汕头市潮阳区西胪镇，位于榕江西侧，南邻后埔村，北接西一社区，西靠海揭公路，面积3.206平方千米[1][3]。因村周围长满绿竹得名[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

先祖于永乐年间（1404—1424年）来此建村，名竹林村；1952年起叫竹林大队，1984年改乡，1988年设管理区，1999年更名为竹林居委会至今[1][3]。

经济[edit]

博雅地名网记社区有6864人、1200户，耕地875亩，以种植水稻为主、养殖为辅，2013年村集体收入43.8万元[1]；百度百科记村民人均可支配收入为10791元，2018年集体年收入830万元，并记社区2019年入选「广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」[3]。
