历史沿革[edit]
当年这一带筑了很多避水的基围，村民选了靠上的一条基围建村，与下基围相对，所以叫上基。[1]
1949年后在第七区之内；1956年办上基高级社，1958年公社化时划入仙村公社的沙基大队，1974年才从中分出、另设上基大队；1983年成上基乡，1987年设村民委员会，属仙村镇；沙埔镇在1989年独立后，上基改隶沙埔，2004年随沙埔一起并入新塘镇。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
百度百科记载，全村共352户、1250人，耕地约800亩，有上基和百花涌两条自然村，前者221户、950人，后者71户、300人；南侧的东江支流可通行1500吨以下货轮，以荔枝和蔬菜种植为主。[2]
2022年，村里启动美丽乡村建设，对广园快速路出入口景观、滨江公园和停车场做了改造，总投资900万元。上基村在2023年8月获评2022年度「广州市美丽乡村」，同年5月被授予广东省卫生村称号，2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[2][1]
