西洲村是广州市增城区新塘镇西南部的行政村，位于东江下游，隔江与东莞市相望，辖区面积6平方公里。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名因位于河涌之西、与东洲相对而来。博雅地名网记载，村子建于南宋庆元三年，原名金洲，明嘉靖年间改称西洲；它同时括注的公元年份为1192年，与庆元三年（1197年）不合，此处只引述。[1]

1951年土地改革后设西洲乡；1956年建西定、东宁两个高级社，1958年为西洲大队，分东平、北宁、西定三个坊区，隶属新塘公社；1983年改为西洲乡，1987年设西洲村民委员会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

全村户籍人口5692人（1616户），外来务工人员有两万多人；村分东平、北宁、西定三个自然坊，下设十七个生产经济合作社。村里有一公里长的东江岸线，辖区内有新洲工业园、新塘环保工业园，以及新世界花园、新乐花园两个住宅小区。[1]百度百科称，村集体年收入超过1500万元，西洲村的城中村改造项目是广州市首批试点做地项目之一。[2]

西洲村在2021年、2022年的淘宝村名单上有名字，2021年12月被广东省爱卫会授予广东省卫生村称号。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内的徐氏宗祠为明至清的三间三进建筑，仍保有明代风格，与显谷公祠、南浦公祠连成一片；徐氏书院始建于清光绪辛丑年（1901年），由九位村民集资兴建，民国初改称「树德小学」，办学至1951年。两处均列入2009年9月公布的第四批增城市文物保护单位。[3]

著名人物[edit]

徐景华（1976—1998）是西洲村人，1998年从广州市警校毕业，到新塘卫山派出所工作，同年11月在清查旅店时牺牲。[4]
