新墩村是广州市增城区新塘镇西部的行政村，西邻黄埔区南岗街，面积约2平方公里，宋代建村，因河滩上的沙墩而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村子的名称来自河滩上的沙墩，宋代建村，最初叫沙墩。[1]

土改的1951年，沙墩、水南、下浦合在一起，称南浦水乡；其后沙墩在1956年自成高级社，1958年是新塘公社的沙墩大队，1961年更名新墩大队。新塘公社撤销后的1983年成为新墩乡，1987年起设新墩村民委员会。[1]

地理与经济[edit]

村在东江岸边，面积约2平方公里，辖12个生产合作社，村内设有小学、幼儿园和老人康乐中心。广深公路从村的西北穿过，东面的村道与广深珠高速公路相接。[1]

据博雅地名网，村里常住的有776户、3499人，另有近5000名外来暂住者；2009年全村经济收入为18698万元，每人年均收入10108元。百度百科补充，村里每年农历五月十七办传统龙舟节，保留划龙舟、吃龙船饭的习俗。[1][2]

新墩村在2021年、2022年的淘宝村名单上有名字，2021年12月又被广东省爱卫会授予广东省卫生村称号。[1]
