南塘社区属晋江市新塘街道，位于塘市社区南侧，属主城区。社区原与塘市同为一个自然村，20世纪70年代单独设立大队。辖区内的洑田庙为宋代建筑，列为市级文物保护单位。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

因塘市范围大、人口多，便于管理，上世纪七十年代经批准自塘市分出，单独成队；名称沿用塘市的旧村名，并以其位于塘市南侧而定。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时属二十五都，民国三十三年（1944年）属大同乡南塘保。建国后并入栖梧区后洋乡，1961年划归罗山公社，1984年设罗山乡南塘村委会，1991年起隶属罗山镇南塘村委会。2003年罗山镇撤销后，南塘改设新塘街道南塘社区居委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

洑田庙位于社区内，建于宋代，为市级文物保护单位。[1][2]

文化[edit]

2021年11月，社区被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」；2021年6月，被命名为「2020年度晋江市平安村（社区）」。[1]
