南塘村在河市镇西北部，地处大山南麓，地形似池塘，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清末，此村在晋江县大猷乡四十四都，称南塘村。1949年以后隶河市区蛟南耕作区，当时仅作一个南塘点；1961年自邻村划出，另立南塘大队。[1][2]

1971年，此地成为河市公社的南塘大队；1984年，改称河市镇南塘村，村委会随之设立。[1]

2004年，本村被区委、区政府评为「宽裕型小康村」；2009年，获「全国交通安全宣传示范村」称号；2010年，获「全国妇联基层组织建设示范村」称号。本村于2020年12月列入「绿盈乡村」（泉州市中级版）名单。[2][1]
