村名寄托着愿望：盼村民勤劳能干，并把这种精神发扬光大。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年初这里属塘社村农会，1958年属塘社大队，1976年从中划出，另立勤光大队。1984年同浮塘合并成浮光乡；1987年起叫勤光村，1988年又改设勤光管理区，1999年成立村民委员会。[3] 2017年10月，勤光村获首批广东省卫生村称号；2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
