得名[edit]
夏姓人家最早在此定居。这里地势低，四面群山环抱，像一口圆塘，所以叫「塘夏」；方言里「夏」「社」同音，后来写作塘社。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
塘社原名棠社村，又称塘夏村。1949年成立农会，1958年称大队；1983至1986年一度并入浮塘乡；1987年4月起叫塘社村，1989年9月改设管理区，1999年4月又改设村民委员会。[3]
