水车村为梅县区水车镇所辖行政村，村名与村里用木制水车灌溉有关。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，该村从前靠人力挑水灌溉，后来请木匠在大横口造了一架木水车引水，村名由此而来。[1]明代归程乡县万安都，清代归嘉应州龙文堡；1956年属水车乡；1959年起归水车人民公社，1987年起称水车管理区，1999年起为水车村委会。[1]
2017年10月，村被列入第一批广东省卫生村；2026年3月，被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
