小桑村为梅县区水车镇所辖行政村，因旧时村民多种桑养蚕而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，旧时村中多数人家种有大片桑树，以养蚕为主要生计，村名由此而来。[1]明代归程乡县万安都，清代归嘉应州龙文堡；1958年划入梅南公社并称小桑大队；1959年起归水车人民公社，1987年起称小桑管理区，1999年起为小桑村委会。[1]
2017年10月，村被列入第一批广东省卫生村；2019年9月，村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位名单」。[1]
