地名由来[edit]
宋末长寿观毁圮，道士王宁素将它改建在博罗县城西的榕溪（博罗城又称榕城，保宁桥下的溪水叫榕溪）上。长寿观背后的郑屋、河北两村，因此合称观背村。长寿观于20世纪50年代毁圮。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代隶博罗县典史署，民国时期编入一、二区五保。新中国成立后先归一区附城乡，1958年属附城人民公社水西大队，1975年7月成为观背蔬菜场，1983年11月是城镇公社下的观背农场，1986年1月改设观背管理区，1999年设村民委员会。[1]
文化与荣誉[edit]
据百度百科词条，该村毗邻县城，村域面积0.3平方公里，有208户，常住约1000人。2014年起，村里以党建引领改造村庄，完成道路硬化、壁画绘制和废弃房屋改建，引入67家文化团体，建成“文化部落”，成为乡村旅游点，年游客量近50万人次。[2]
2017年11月，中央文明委授予观背村「第五届全国文明村镇」称号；2018年7月，司法部、民政部表彰其为「第七批全国民主法治示范村（社区）」；2019年9月，广东省文化和旅游厅认定其为「首批广东省文化和旅游特色村」。[1]
