地名由来[edit]
清顺治年间（1644—1661），高排岭的叶氏、廖氏和水坑村的李氏迁到两湖岸边定居，起名连湖坣。后来外地人陆续迁入，1940年村里建房9栋，一度称九栋屋。1950年，因相连的两湖种了莲藕，且“连”“莲”同音，改称莲湖。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代属博罗县典史署管辖；民国时期编入一、二区九保。新中国成立后先隶一区附城乡，人民公社化时为附城公社的莲湖大队。1983年11月，罗阳区设莲湖乡；1986年1月改为莲湖管理区，归罗阳镇；1999年起设莲湖村民委员会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
据博雅地名网所载：2019年12月，莲湖村名列国家林业和草原局公布的「第二批国家森林乡村」；2020年12月，成为2020年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2022年1月，由广东省乡村振兴局确定为「乡村治理示范村」创建单位；2023年11月，入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村；2024年4月，列入「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单。[1]
