社区靠近东江，取盼其兴旺之意，称东兴[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
居委会1958年的驻地是老街二巷；1998年水口镇政府为城区开发迁到新区，居委会跟着搬进政府大院，2003年再迁老街四巷一号[1]。
荣誉[edit]
东兴社区名列2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，名单公布于2019年9月[1]。
