历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，黄连一带原是海滩，有7个小丘，称“七星岗”，后淤积成陆，形似荷花，旧称莲池、莲溪；居民多姓黄，以经商为业，“莲”字后写作“连”，遂名黄连。[1]该页记，开村在唐朝（地名由来一栏则称建村于南宋末年）；1954年设连溪镇，1959年改称黄连镇；1988年起称黄连办事处，1992年并入黄连管理区；1999年称黄连街道，2002年改称黄连居委会，沿用至今。[1]
社区概况[edit]
社区东北邻江义和伦教的羊额，北邻稔海村。据博雅地名网转载的介绍，社区常住2738户、8550人，流动人口16923人，出租屋1729间；2014年有工厂160多家、商铺500多间，设有小学1所、托幼机构2所。[2]社区设有社区服务中心和活动中心，开设曲艺、醒狮武术、书法、盆景等团队，另有敬老院、广场和公园。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
傅氏墓碑位于本社区基尾石龟一巷，是明代弘治、正德年间所立的碑刻，详见勒流街道条。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，黄连社区被列为省级民主法治示范村（社区）的创建单位；2023年11月又进入广东省首批百千万工程典型县镇村的名单。[1]
