名称与沿革[edit]
传说创村时水源奇缺，先民开河引水，村名苦溪；“苦”“古”音近，后雅称古溪。据载，村落形成于南宋淳熙年间[1]。
1933年随两英一带划入南山移垦委员会，新中国成立后属古围乡，公社化时设古溪大队，1986年改居委会，1999年复称古溪居委会[1]。
产业[edit]
1904年，村民从上海、广州引进纺织机械，办起织布厂，产品销往粤东、粤北及港澳、东南亚；今有各类企业96家，是汕头市纺织服装专业村[1]。耕地1483亩，以盛产大蒜著称[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
古溪天主堂创建于1882年，由法国巴黎外方传教会神父主持，1910年前后续建，是潮阳县两个堂区之一的两英古溪堂区所在[2]。古溪姚氏宗祠为明清古建筑，2014年被公布为汕头市文物保护单位[1]。
