其中七洲尾的得名有据可查：建村时有7户渔民、7条船在海滩尾部围垦，船与舟相通，“舟”与“洲”谐音，故称七洲尾。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村立于1835年（清道光十五年）；解放后设新洲大队，隶属斗门县上横公社；1984年改新洲乡，1986年改新洲村委会；2003年起归莲洲镇。[1]
