历史沿革[edit]
博雅地名网称，廖氏族人在南宋景定四年（1263年）从江西迁来建村，起初叫下境。土地改革后设廖村小乡（1952年），1956年办起高级农业合作社；人民公社化时，下境、湖尾、新宁三条自然村合组廖村社（1958年），1962年改设廖村大队。公社撤销后恢复为乡，1987年1月撤区建镇，乡改为村。[1]
环境[edit]
在增城绿道旅游项目的支持下，村里修建了西堤体育公园、荔江公园和沿河的骑行绿道。[1]
荣誉[edit]
该村是广东省爱卫会2021年12月评定的卫生村之一。[1]
