新民村是狮岭镇下辖的行政村，在镇的东部，紧邻旗岭圩，下辖11个经济合作社，面积1.9平方公里。建立农会时，农民认为自己有了新政权、当家作主，因而取名新民。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新民农会设于1950年，1956年改为高级农业生产合作社，1958年并入新一，成新民大队，辖11个生产队；1983年11月大队撤销，改称新民乡。1987年1月设立新民村委会，起初归芙蓉嶂区公所管，3月起改归芙蓉镇政府；2005年2月起，按粤民区〔2005〕10号文办理，改由狮岭镇管辖。^[1]

有543户、1897名户籍居民，外来人员约2000（该页未注明年份）。主要姓氏有钟、罗、甘、温、黄、曾、叶、盘、邱、麦、周、朱等。^[1]

两赤线和芙蓉度假村专用道在村中通过。工业和服务业是主要产业，皮革加工、运输、务工是村民的主要收入来源；村内另有4家外资企业、13家私营企业和25户个体户。^[1]

荣誉：阿里研究院2020年公布的淘宝村名单和2022年的名单中都有新民村；2021年12月获「2021年广东省卫生村」称号；2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2025年6月获认定为「2024年度广州市级美丽乡村」。^[1]
